Breanski Snr, Alfred de 1852 - 1928
Born in Greenwich (London) in 1852, the eldest son of Leopold de Breanski, Alfred de Breanski became famous for his paintings of British landscapes. His prolific output included views of the River Thames (where he kept a houseboat) and also Scottish and Welsh mountain landscapes. Of particular note are some spectacular paintings of Scottish lochs at sunset. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1872 and 1890, and also at the Society of British Artists on Suffolk Street. He had seven children including two sons who also became painters - Arthur and Alfred Fontville de Breanski. He died in 1928.
